EARLY YEARS Mary Griffin is an accomplished, internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter with numerous accomplishments over her 30 year professional career. Accolades include but are not limited to, a Grammy nomination, multiple platinum records, and movie soundtracks. She started singing before grade school with her three sisters and father, who was a traveling preacher, in central Louisiana. She matriculated for 2 years at Northeast Louisiana University and accepted a full-ride offer at Grambling State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master's Degree in Performing Arts. She received her honorary degree at Grace International Bible University CAREER Griffin was signed to Curb Records C&W label for 10 years as an artist and became the secret weapon that created the vocal template for so many hit songs. “With a powerfully unique voice and a definitive sound, Mary Griffin consistently delivers soul stirring performances that captivate audiences around the world”. Using her early career as a springboard, Mary channels meaningful memories into powerful melodies that express honor and strength. Her rich sound and jaw-dropping performance style are rooted in the story of a pastor’s daughter with a passion for singing good music. With respect to her tenure with Curb Records, Mary began singing for movie soundtracks. She was featured in the movie, Studio 54, portraying Amii Stewart in the performance soundtrack, “Knock on Wood”. She later performed “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” with Frankie Valli for the closing credits of the film, Conspiracy Theory. She also sang “I Wanna Get Back With You” for the movie, Driven" starring Burt Reynolds written by Diane Warren. Other notable movies that feature Mary’s voice include a Benny Mardones duet for Coyote Ugly, as well as the film.
Ballistic X vs. Sever on the end credit song, “Anytime”. After returning from Europe promoting and shooting the video for “Ain’t No Living Without You” by Color Me Bad icons, Louis Biancaniello and Sam Waters, Griffin was privileged to have one of her songs selected by Celine Dion. “I Surrender” was an instant success with Celine and further drove Mary’s writing and singing skills to the forefront. The expansion continued as she included “I Surrender” on her 2002 album, “Purified”. In August 2011, Mary recorded the theme song “Speed“ with producer Stephen Emmer and 2 additional songs for the Stage Entertainment show “Holiday on Ice“. Mary wrote “City of Love” for “The Horn Dogz” of Paris. She recorded “Paying the Cost to be the Boss" with legendary blues singer, Taj Mahal and the BB King Blue Band. She also covered Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady” and performed in a video for the project.
TOURING For 13 years, subsequent to leaving Curb Records, Mary Griffin lit simultaneous torches on the stage with 2 music industry icons. She performed and toured globally with Patti LaBelle for 13 years, as well as featured with George Clinton and the PFunk band for 7 years. The media and audiences were blown away by her riveting performances!
